Surgical Sperm Aspiration
Surgical sperm aspiration (SSA) is a technique used to extract sperm directly from the testicles or epididymis of a man who is unable to produce viable sperm through ejaculation. This procedure is typically used in cases of male infertility where the cause of the infertility is a blockage preventing the sperm from reaching the ejaculate or a low sperm count. Surgical sperm aspiration can be an effective way to obtain sperm for use in assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
