What is Fertility Preservation?

Fertility preservation is becoming an increasingly popular option for women who want to delay pregnancy for personal or medical reasons. One of the most effective methods of fertility preservation is oocyte freezing, also known as egg freezing.

Oocyte freezing involves the extraction and preservation of a woman’s eggs. These eggs can then be thawed and used in the future for in vitro fertilization (IVF) or other assisted reproductive technologies. Oocyte freezing is a safe and effective way to preserve a woman’s fertility and increase her chances of having a successful pregnancy.

The process of oocyte freezing begins with a series of hormone injections to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. Once the eggs are mature, they are retrieved through a minimally invasive procedure called transvaginal ultrasound-guided aspiration. The eggs are then frozen using a process called vitrification, which rapidly freezes the eggs to prevent ice crystal formation.
