Injection Instruction for Patients
At Renew Healthcare, we understand that the process of administering injections for fertility treatment can be intimidating. However, with proper instruction and a little bit of practice, it can become a routine part of your daily routine. Our team is here to provide you with the support and guidance you need to make the process as smooth as possible.
The injections used in fertility treatment are self-administered and are usually done subcutaneously, which means just under the skin. Here are the steps to follow when administering an injection:
Choose the injection site: The most common injection sites are the stomach, thigh, and upper arm. Rotate the site with each injection to reduce discomfort and prevent scarring.
Clean the injection site: Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and let it dry.
Assemble the injection: Take the needle out of its packaging and remove the protective cap. If you are using a prefilled syringe, skip this step.
Pinch the skin: Pinch the skin at the injection site between your thumb and forefinger to form a tent of skin. This will make it easier to insert the needle.
Insert the needle: Hold the syringe like a pencil and insert the needle into the skin at a 90-degree angle. Push the plunger slowly to inject the medication.
Remove the needle: After the injection is complete, remove the needle and apply gentle pressure to the injection site with a clean cotton ball or gauze.
Dispose of the needle: Place the used needle in a sharps container for safe disposal.
If you have any questions or concerns about the injection process, please don’t hesitate to contact our clinic. Our team is here to support you every step of the way.”
We hope these instructions are helpful for administering your injections with confidence. Good luck with your fertility journey!
