Understanding PCOS

PCOS is a complex hormonal disorder that affects the ovaries and the levels of hormones produced by the ovaries and the adrenal glands. The ovaries become enlarged and contain multiple cysts, which are actually small follicles that contain eggs that have not fully matured. The presence of these cysts can lead to an imbalance in the levels of hormones produced by the ovaries, including androgens (male hormones) and estrogen. This hormonal imbalance can cause a range of symptoms and fertility problems.
