Diagnosis of PCOS
Diagnosing PCOS can be challenging as the symptoms can be similar to those of other conditions. However, a combination of physical examination, medical history, and laboratory tests can help diagnose PCOS. Your doctor will check for signs of androgen excess, such as excessive hair growth, acne, and male-pattern baldness. They may also perform a pelvic ultrasound to look for cysts in the ovaries. Blood tests can also be done to measure hormone levels, including testosterone and luteinizing hormone (LH).
